Meet Zoe!

Zoe is the founder of Maintain Independence and someone who we know very well and enjoy spending time with! She is a clinical Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Specialist, qualified Nutritionist and a Neurological Exercise Specialist (She knows what she's going on about!).

Zoe has a lot of compassion when it comes to her work, she has previously served for 12 years in the Royal Military Police, therefore is a huge advocate for vetrans, whom she has specialised support for. We would recommend and trust her with supporting any of our clients!

How Zoe has helped one of our clients alongside our professional care:

'Bridget is 91 and has been working with me since January. As a Right at Home client, she receives brilliant support day-to-day, and our collaborative approach means we’re able to help her maintain her independence more effectively. Over the past several months, she’s made fantastic progress. Her sessions usually include walking, using a passive bike, strength and flexibility work, as well as coordination and problem-solving exercises.

One of the most rewarding discoveries in our time together has been how effective it is to combine motor skills with light cognitive tasks. We’ve introduced simple but meaningful problem-solving activities that require Bridget to respond to instructions, sequences, or patterns while moving – such as stepping in specific directions, following cues, or using props to ‘solve’ small physical challenges.

These exercises are more than just mentally stimulating – they have a real-world purpose. They help improve reaction times, balance, coordination, and decision-making under pressure, all of which are essential for preventing falls. They also directly support everyday functional tasks, such as safely navigating the home, changing direction when walking, or reacting to an unexpected obstacle.

The ultimate goal of our work together is to help Bridget stay safely at home with her sister, rather than needing to move into a care home. Her consistency, humour, and determination make each session a joy, and her progress is a real credit to her commitment!'

As you can tell, Zoe has the same passion that we have for our clients as she does for her, and we are both working towards the end goal of regaining independence and bettering individuals quality of life as a whole!
