Meet Our Lovely Client, Geraldine

Client receiving round-the-clock care at home with a dedicated Carer nearby.

Meet Geraldine

In the final weeks of her life, Geraldine remained where she wanted to be most — at home, near Regent Street in Central London, surrounded by her family.

She was an elderly lady with a strong personality, deeply loved by her devoted daughter, and had been living with dementia alongside other complex health conditions.

For Geraldine and her family, staying comfortable and cared for in familiar surroundings mattered more than anything else, and that is exactly what we set out to make possible.

Creating a Personalised Care & Support Plan

After a stroke, Geraldine returned home from hospital for palliative care.

Alongside her dementia, she was living with chronic kidney disease and a cardiac condition, and had become bedbound with significant weakness. She needed complete support with personal care, feeding, repositioning, and comfort measures.

More than anything, her family needed compassionate professionals who could provide dignified care while gently supporting them through an emotionally difficult time.

How Right at Home Central London Helped

We provided personalised end-of-life care in line with Geraldine's care plan, built around comfort, dignity, and consistency. This included personal care, oral care, dressing and grooming, and support with feeding and hydration, alongside regular repositioning to protect her skin and comfort.

Her Carer, Emilia, monitored closely for any changes in her condition, maintained a clean and safe environment, and offered quiet emotional reassurance throughout.

Just as important as the hands-on care was the communication behind it. We worked closely with Geraldine's daughter and her clinical team, making sure every stage of care was coordinated, explained, and compassionate — so the family always knew what to expect and never felt alone in the process.

The Difference Support Made

Although Geraldine's condition continued to change, she was able to remain in the comfort and familiarity of her own home, with her dignity, comfort, and wellbeing at the centre of every visit. For her daughter, that meant reassurance — knowing her mother was receiving respectful, professional care, and that she herself was kept informed and involved at every stage.

Even as communication with Geraldine became limited, the relationship built with her daughter remained one of the most meaningful parts of this journey. Taking the time to explain every aspect of care, protect her dignity, and offer gentle reassurance helped both Geraldine and her family feel supported throughout. Helping her remain comfortable at home during her final weeks was a significant achievement for everyone involved.

"Supporting Geraldine reinforced the importance of compassion, patience, and dignity in end-of-life care. Although it was emotionally challenging, it was a privilege to help ensure she remained comfortable and respected while supporting her family through such an important stage of her life. Working closely with the office and clinical team gave me the confidence to provide safe, person-centred care throughout her journey."
