A day in the life of a Carer with Right at Home East Lancashire and Ribble Valley

No two days with Right at Home are the same, but a typical day in the life of a Carer could look a little something like this...

8:00am:

It’s my first visit of the day with Alice, my favourite client. Alice needs assisting with personal care, her medication administering and her breakfast preparing. There is always time for a chat and Alice loves to talk about her childhood, family and all the places she has travelled to.

9:15am:

Ronnie is up and waiting for my arrival, he goes to take a shower while I open the curtains, make his bed and get his breakfast ready. Ronnie loves a cooked breakfast and a cup of tea in his favourite mug. He always has a sandwich prepared for his lunch and a verbal reminder to take his medication. He stands at the door to wave me off after every visit.

10:30am:

Mavis is ready and waiting wrapped up for the cold weather but has a big smile on her face. Today is the coffee morning she attends at the local community centre. Mavis’ mood and wellbeing has improved dramatically since she started attending and it is lovely to watch her chat away to her new friends.

12:30pm:

It’s back to Alice’s to make her lunch and administer her medication. Alice greets me like an old friend and tells me she is looking forward to seeing me again in the morning.

1:30pm:

It’s my last visit of the day before going to do the school run. Doris needs her shopping collecting from the supermarket and some items collecting from the local bakers. Doris doesn’t feel like coming with me today so I take her list and money to buy the items. Once back at Doris’ I put her shopping away and make us a cup of tea.

2:45pm:

Finish for the day.
