Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection

Published: 16/03/2022

Today, 17th March 2022 we mark two years since the start of the pandemic and since the UK was first placed into lockdown.

The past few years have been a difficult time for everyone but especially those in the Health Care Sector. On Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection, we simply take time to say “thank you” to the dedicated workforce.

Throughout the pandemic, our CareGivers, like many others, worked tirelessly to support our clients in any way they could.

Read below to see what Andree (Managing Director) and Lesley (Registered Manager) had to say about how the team dealt with the pandemic:

"We were one of the last Care Providers to be inspected by the Care Quality Commission in March 2020 prior to the first lockdown because of Covid-19.  Our overall rating was Good.  I have to say the Right at Home office team did a fantastic job at keeping our wonderful Care Assistants up to date with information to help them be fully aware of how to use PPE most effectively and how to keep themselves safe.  Our National Office also supported all its franchises by topping up PPE levels when PPE shortages started to occur and before any Local Authorities stepped up to help us.  They were difficult times, however, by pulling together as a cohesive team we came through all the initial challenges. The last two years have presented challenges we never expected and to some extent, this has changed how we do business and support our clients."

Andree Kerr (Managing Director)

"I’m so proud of my entire team they went to work every day putting the client's needs first with a big smile bringing normality in exceptional times, you are all amazing people in every way."

Lesley Heath (Registered Manager)

There are many ways you can mark today with a few suggestions below.

  • Plant a tree in memory of a loved one
  • Write a thank you card to any Care Worker who may have supported you or your family in the past year
  • Take a minute to reflect
  • The Care Workers Charity has created a Memorial Wall and Thank You Wall, where you're able to leave a tribute to a lost loved one or to thank a Care Worker.
  • Skills for Care are holding a virtual event to pay tribute to the work of the care staff throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

On this special Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection, we should all be proud of the work ethic we have displayed and our clients are grateful for that.
