Nellie

Here at Right at Home Basingstoke we are always looking at doing something different when considering elderly care. This is where Nellie comes in.

Nellie is our trainee PAT dog. Rescued from Ireland, we were told she was a collie cross - perfect ! After a few weeks and a closer look at some of her markings we couldn't work out what she was crossed with. A simple DNA test however revealed she is not a collie at all. Nellie is in fact a Siberian Husky cross English Springer Spaniel.

She is the happiest dog we've ever known and is very gentle. Her life on the streets as a stray means she is wary of strangers but she loves small children.

With the combined energy of a husky and springer, Nellie is going to be a work in progress until such time as she has calmed down a little.

Once we have her fully trained we look forward to getting her out amongst our elderly clients to give them a chance to stroke and play with her. There's no doubt that if people have once had a dog, that love of dogs never leaves them and being able to bring a friendly animal to see them makes all the difference.

Watch this space and we'll let you know when she's all trained up !
