A senior nurse who played a pivotal role in preventing the spread of infection during the COVID-19 pandemic has joined our growing network of franchisees.
Sarah Beshir has taken the reins of our Central London office and, having recently received her CQC registration, has strong ambitions to provide an umbrella of quality services, including complex clinical care.
Sarah started her career as a biomedical scientist at the NHS Blood Transfusion Department in 2005, before becoming a registered nurse and working for various hospitals across London.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Sarah was placed in charge of Infection Prevention and Control at St John and St Elizabeth Hospital. After nearly three years in the role, she received an Excellence Award from the charity for her outstanding efforts.
She said: “From when I started in the role in September 2019, to when I left the hospital in June 2021, we had no Covid outbreaks at all. We were fully functioning throughout.”
Sarah later worked as a Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse for Imperial College Healthcare, but soon became drawn to the homecare sector after seeing patients unable to return home due to limited available community support.
“It was frustrating to see people ready to walk out the door, but they couldn’t do so because a care package hadn’t been placed. I wanted to bridge the gap,” Sarah explained.
Sarah approached four homecare franchisors before deciding that Right at Home was the right fit for her.
“I found Right at Home to be really supportive and passionate about providing quality care,” she said.
Sarah’s strategy to provide complex care in the community is also aligned with Right at Home’s Clinical Care Project, which is being rolled out across the entire network with the aim of preventing hospital visits and re-admissions.
“I was very excited about the Clinical Care Project, as I want to be able to provide high-quality complex care in addition to basic care,” Sarah said.
But why, with her in-depth knowledge of the health and social care sector, did Sarah opt to join a franchise?
“The support Right at Home franchisees receive is phenomenal. National Office has provided everything I need to get my business up and running and deliver the best possible care. The decision was a no-brainer,” she said.
After receiving her CQC registration, the new Right at Home franchisee is focused on recruiting a strong team of healthcare professionals to provide a range of services.
Sarah said: “I want to provide multiple services to Clients. Someone might need help with their shopping, but they may also require catheter care, so I want my Clients to be able to receive these services without having to go to two different providers. I’m really keen to get started.”
