Since October 2023, Anand Parekh has been delivering chair yoga sessions across his Right at Home territory – bringing breathwork, mindful movement, and deep relaxation into both community and care settings.
The result is a flourishing local initiative that supports Clients’ mobility, social interaction, and confidence, while also strengthening his brand’s presence and relationships in the community.
“Chair yoga is more than a fitness class – it’s a way to keep people mobile, independent, and connected,” says Anand. “As a newly trained Lincolnshire Falls Ambassador, I see these sessions as an opportunity to support wellbeing and prevent avoidable hospitalisations, all while building meaningful partnerships.”
Currently, Anand holds two community chair yoga sessions each month, in Grantham and Colsterworth. He also regularly delivers sessions in care homes and supported living settings and offers personalised one-to-one sessions for Right at Home Clients.
With group sizes ranging from 20 to 50, each class is designed to be inclusive, gentle, and uplifting. Attendees include older adults managing arthritis, limited mobility, and recovery from illness, as well as those seeking relief from loneliness, anxiety, or low mood. Many are referred by local social prescribers and community teams, who often attend alongside their Clients and stay to join in.
“The response has been incredible,” Anand shares. “We’re hearing from people who’ve regained confidence in their movement, built new friendships, and even changed the way they think about ageing. One Client recently said, ‘It’s the best I’ve felt in years.’”

Anand’s passion for yoga is deeply personal. Inspired by his mother’s breathwork practice and a desire for greater self-reflection in his twenties, he trained as a yoga instructor and co-founded Hot Yoga Nottingham with his wife, Devina, in 2017. They now run over 20 classes a week.
Anand's grandad, 92, enjoys both the physical and social benefits
Bringing yoga into his homecare business felt like a natural next step – and one made all the more meaningful by his own grandfather’s participation. At 92, Anand’s grandfather attends chair yoga sessions regularly, enjoying both the physical benefits and the social interaction that help him stay well and independent in his own home.
“He’s living proof that gentle movement, community, and a sense of purpose can keep you thriving at any age,” says Anand.
Business Benefits: Community Presence and Professional Partnerships
While the sessions are offered free of charge, they’re delivering impressive returns in terms of business development and local reputation. The classes have created valuable touchpoints with community stakeholders, particularly GP practices, social prescribers, and local health teams, with whom Right at Home is a trusted partner in preventative care and wellbeing.
Anand has also launched a series of online chair yoga videos, available on the Right at Home Grantham & Newark website, making mindful movement accessible to those who can’t attend in person, whether they’re recovering at home, waiting for reablement services, or simply prefer to practise at their own pace.
“This is holistic care in action,” says Anand. “It’s not about ticking boxes – it’s about making a difference in people’s lives, which is why so many professionals are referring their Clients to us.”
For prospective Franchise Owners, Anand’s story is a fantastic example of how passion-driven initiatives can enhance a Right at Home business, strengthening community ties, deepening Client relationships, and opening new pathways to growth.
