Charity Partnership

In April, Right at Home became the first homecare provider to partner with the Alzheimer’s Society, pledging to raise funds and awareness to help build a dementia-friendly future.
We estimate that more than 60% of the people we provide care and companionship services to are living with dementia. We know from Alzheimer’s Society research, that the number of people diagnosed in the UK is set to double within the next 50 years.
People living with dementia experience memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving and language. These symptoms get progressively worse and eventually have a significant impact upon their quality of life and their independence.
Our experience of working in the care sector for the last nine years, shows us that a dementia diagnosis also has a wide-reaching impact upon the person’s families and friendship circles. The disease affects a loved one’s personality, behaviour and ability to maintain relationships.
But as providers of high-quality, person-centred homecare, we have also witnessed the incredibly positive impact the right support can have on families who are affected by dementia.
We are very proud to have supported thousands of Clients to remain living safely in their own homes. Our dedicated care teams have successfully helped them to stabilise and manage their symptoms, allowing them and their families to live better lives.
This is our motivation for supporting the amazing work of the Alzheimer’s Society, as they continue their research into the disease and provide a range of support services to people living with dementia.
Under the new partnership, the Right at Home franchise network of 60 independent offices has pledged to raise at least £20,000 a year, and to raise awareness in our communities by creating at least 1,000 new Dementia Friends.
Business owners, care managers, care assistants and back-office teams have been setting action challenges, selling cupcakes, hosting fundraising events and information and awareness sessions to spread the word in their local community.
