How the Big Green Picnic Reflects the Right at Home Franchise Ethos
Published: 16/06/2025
At Right at Home, we believe that care is about more than just supporting people at home – it’s about making a meaningful impact in our community.
This summer, our network of Franchise Owners is coming together to lead a brand-new nationwide campaign: the Big Green Picnic. In partnership with the charity Dementia Adventure, the initiative brings together local people to enjoy dementia-friendly picnics in parks, gardens and outdoor spaces across the UK. The aim? To create moments of joy, connection and inclusion for people living with dementia and their families.
From 16 June and throughout July, Right at Home franchise offices across the country are hosting a wide range of Big Green Picnic events, from intimate garden gatherings to larger community celebrations. These events are not just feel-good activities; they are a fantastic expression of the culture and values that make our network unique.
The Big Green Picnic campaign highlights the very reason many of our Franchise Owners choose to join Right at Home: the opportunity to run a successful business that makes a real and lasting difference in people’s lives.
Each event is led and shaped by local teams, bringing together Clients, Care Professionals, family members and volunteers. It’s a chance to spark conversation, reduce isolation, and show that care can be about living life to the full – not just receiving support.
As Kate Dilworth, our Head of Network Development, put it:
“This is what Right at Home is all about: creating moments of connection that go far beyond traditional care. The Big Green Picnic isn’t about big budgets or elaborate planning – it’s about giving people the chance to enjoy time together in nature, and our partnership with Dementia Adventure is already making a real difference.”
The campaign was piloted in May by Right at Home Stevenage, Bishop’s Stortford & Braintree, who co-hosted a wonderful afternoon of sensory activities, music and flower arranging at Meadowbrook Care Home. The result? A joyful, inclusive atmosphere – and a fantastic example of how Franchise Owners can develop strong local partnerships and deliver life-enriching benefits to their community.
With a national toolkit, marketing support, and co-branded resources from Dementia Adventure, Franchise Owners have everything they need to bring the Big Green Picnic to life in their areas. It’s just one example of how we equip our network to deliver value far beyond day-to-day care.
If you’re considering joining a franchise network that offers both commercial opportunities and positive social impact, Right at Home offers the best of both worlds.
Our Franchise Owners come from a range of professional backgrounds – what they share is a desire to build a business that makes a difference in the lives of others. Campaigns like the Big Green Picnic are just one of the many ways we help them do that.
