Right at Home was proud to support the British Franchise Association’s 2022 Annual Conference, which took place at the Vox in Birmingham’s NEC on November 24 and 25.

RaH Chairman Ken Deary – who is also the current chair of the bfa – attended with CEO Lucy Campbell, and Kate Dilworth, Head of Network Development.

The event is the biggest get-together of brands, suppliers and affiliates of the UK franchise sector and we had a fantastic time, sharing best practice together and hearing from some insightful, successful and inspirational keynote speakers.

The bfa team had arranged a number of panel sessions that were led by bfa members, and Right at Home was well represented as we discussed topics that impacted all franchise brands.

Ken joined an experienced group of franchise executives from the bfa Board of Directors for a ‘Stories from the Boardroom’ session, to discuss how they’ve had to change – and drive change – to remain at the top of their game.

Lucy spoke on a panel representing award-winning brands to discuss how meaningful franchisee feedback has helped them deliver industry-leading support, while in a different session Kate’s panel discussed how to create a culture that drives high-level performance.

Speaking after the event, Ken said: “I have been attending the bfa conference for many years and no matter what size of network, or stage of development, it always delivers value.

“For newcomers in the world of franchising and those in early stages of growth there is so much to learn - and so many common mistakes that can be avoided from all the shared best practice.

“More mature networks still need to work hard to stay at the forefront of their industries and the bfa conference helps us all ensure we are up to speed with recent developments in franchising case law; picking up great tips to drive performance in our teams; and advocating the principles of ethical franchising – as a self-regulated industry, this is so important.”

Lucy added: “This year’s British Franchise Association Annual Conference was, as always, an excellent event – with an exceptional array of keynote speakers, panellists and workshops – it is a true privilege to share a few days with so many incredible business people.”
