Kayleigh
Deputy Care Manager - Farnham
What inspired you to join Right at Home?
'I was encouraged by a friend to pursue a carer in care because of my heart for service.'
What does a typical day look like for you?
'Emails, phone calls, medication requests, messages and reports to action and acknowledge to each team and each care plan, working very closely with the registered managers, coordinators and other DCM's.'
What do you enjoy or find most rewarding about your role?
'When we are able to resolve a problem as a team for a client, carer or office staff and when I am able to learn a new layer to this role, helping to be a part of the cogs that turn at the white barn.'
Can you share a memorable moment or achievement that you have experienced as a carer?
'When a client had a rough few days of feeling in a low mood and he remembered a musical called "Stop the world I want to get off" by Anthony Newly in a morning visit and so at the afternoon visit I offered to play a few of the songs through my phone - 2 songs in and he had his arms raised singing and enjoying the music and I just felt for a moment I was able to transport him to a time where he felt alive. It was precious and a privilege to be a part of.'
What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?
'Bible study, journaling, poetry, art, church, long walks and vast views.'
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received?
'You get out what you put in.'
What’s the most interesting thing you have learnt in the past month?
'The twit twoo from the tawny owl is actually a duet between two tawny owls.'
