Frequently Asked Questions

How much does overnight care cost in Guildford and Farnham?

Costs depend on the level and duration of care required, and whether any support is available through Surrey County Council. We offer a free, no-obligation assessment and tailored quotation to help you make an informed choice.

Overnight care is a cost-effective alternative to a residential care home. Your Carer will support you in your home for an agreed period, and the cost will vary depending on the types of care you require.

What is overnight care?

Overnight care involves having a qualified and experienced Carer stay with you or your loved one throughout the night, providing support as needed. At Right at Home, we work closely with you and your family to create a customised care plan that covers personal care, medication support, companionship, reassurance, and mobility support, ensuring your individual requirements are fully met.

Who is overnight care for?

Our specialist overnight care services are designed for individuals who require support throughout the night, including:

  • People recovering from a hospital stay
  • Elderly individuals
  • Those living with complex conditions such as dementia
  • People in need of 24-hour support

Whether you need occasional assistance or more frequent care throughout the night, our services are tailored to meet your specific needs. We offer sleeping night and waking night care services to suit different types of care needs.

Do I need waking night care or sleeping night care?

Our waking and sleeping night services ensure comprehensive overnight care for our Clients.

Waking night care is ideal for Clients with more complex needs. Our Carer stays awake and alert to assist with any tasks, such as bathroom visits, administering medication, or offering companionship during restless nights.

Sleeping night care is suitable for Clients who require less frequent assistance. The Carer rests in a separate room but is available to help when needed. This service provides peace of mind and security for those who are largely independent but still require some reassurance.

Do overnight Carers need a bedroom?

This depends on the type of overnight care you have arranged. In the case of sleeping night care the Carer will require a bedroom for rest. If you are receiving waking night care the Carer remains awake through the night and does not require a bedroom.

How long can overnight care be arranged for?

Overnight care can be arranged on a short-term basis, for example during recovery from illness, or on a longer-term basis if ongoing support is needed. Whether you need temporary care or a long-term solution, we tailor our services to suit you.

What are the benefits of overnight care at home?

Staying at home for overnight care offers numerous advantages over residential care or nursing homes. This includes:

  • Staying in the comfort of your own home: Staying in familiar surroundings promotes emotional wellbeing, particularly for those living with dementia or other complex conditions.
  • Control over meal times and preferences: You have the flexibility to eat when and what you prefer, maintaining a routine that fits your personal lifestyle.
  • One-to-one care from your own dedicated Carer: Unlike in a care home where attention is shared among multiple residents, overnight care at home ensures you receive personalised, focused support.
  • Maintain your preferred lifestyle and routines: Continuing your daily routines and personal habits fosters independence and enhances overall well-being, helping you live life on your own terms.
  • Friends and family can visit freely: There are no restrictions on visiting hours, allowing your loved ones to visit whenever they wish, ensuring you remain connected to your support network.
What happens if my needs change?

We regularly review care plans to ensure you are receiving the right level of support. If your needs change, we’ll adapt the plan accordingly to make sure you continue to get the care you require.
