Coming Together to Support Dementia Charities
Supporting people living with dementia and their families is something that means a lot to our team at Right at Home Solent. This September, our team took part in two very different fundraising challenges, helping to raise money for charities supporting people affected by dementia.
One of those was Walk for Dementia 2026, an event we are proud to sponsor. The walk supports Dementia Support Hampshire and Isle of Wight, a local charity that provides support and information to people living with dementia and their families. Our team joined the 8K walk, before taking on a very different challenge at the Right at Home UK annual conference.
From walking across mixed terrain in Warsash with colleagues, family and friends to taking on a fire walk, it has been a busy few weeks for our team.

Walking for Dementia
As proud sponsors of Walk for Dementia 2026, we take part in the event again this year. Members of the Right at Home Solent team came together for the 8K walk, with family and friends welcome to join us too.
The walk was challenging in places, but everyone (including our youngest member who was 2 years old!) kept going and supported each other along the way. We raised £559 for Dementia Support Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
For us, the walk was about more than fundraising. It was also a chance to remember the wonderful Clients we have supported, past and present, including those living with dementia. It gave us an opportunity to raise awareness and share stories as we walked.
Dementia Support Hampshire and Isle of Wight is a small local charity that provides free peer support, information and signposting for people living with dementia and their families across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. As an independent charity, donations help them continue providing support groups, advice sessions and community activities. Taking on the Fire Walk
Then came a very different kind of challenge!
At the Right at Home UK annual conference, Kev took part in a fire walk, with Amy joining him. They were joined by other franchise owners and members of the National Office team who were willing to take on the challenge too.
Walking barefoot across burning coals is certainly not something you do every day!
The challenge was in support of Dementia Adventure, a charity that Right at Home supports nationally. Together, Kev and Amy helped raise £1,328, well above their original £400 target.
Dementia Adventure helps people living with dementia and their families enjoy new experiences through supported holidays and adventures. Their work shows that a diagnosis of dementia does not have to mean that opportunities for making new memories have to stop.
This is something that means a lot to us. We see every day how much the right support can help people living with dementia, helping them feel safe, supported and connected to the people around them. We are incredibly proud to be associated with this wonderful charity (and ace group of people!)

Thank You for Your Support
We are grateful to everyone who supported both fundraising challenges, whether by donating, taking part, encouraging the team or simply sharing our fundraising efforts.
Every donation helps these charities continue their work and support people and families affected by dementia.
We are proud to be part of a team that is willing to get involved, take on a challenge and give something back to the local community.
From an 8K walk with family and friends to a fire walk at a national conference, both challenges were about the same thing: helping make sure people living with dementia and their families do not have to face it alone.
