Raising Funds for Dementia Adventure
Yesterday, we held our annual Big Green Picnic to fundraise for Dementia Adventure. In collaboration with Heol Don Care Home, we hosted an amazing day of activities, food and sunshine, whilst raising money for charity.
The picnic was held in Heol Don’s garden which had been beautifully decorated by the staff for the occasion. The afternoon started off with a delicious array of food from around the world, provided by the brilliant chefs at the care home. The dedicated staff made sure everyone was well fed, stayed hydrated and offered sun cream around for those who needed it - even offering hats to everyone attending.

The Entertainment
After lunch, we were joined by Kat Jones, who sang a range of songs from Doris Day’s Whatever Will Be, Will Be to Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.
Before our raffle, the Sugar Shack ice cream cart made its rounds, and the staff ran their Human Slot Machine, which the residents had helped make the day before.
We finished off the day by announcing our raffle winners and giving away our amazing prizes - thank you to Tesco Extra on Excelsior Road in Cardiff, Highs and Loaves and Bluebells Complementary Therapies for your generous raffle prize donations!
Rise then came over to run some seated hockey with the residents, which got a bit competitive!

It was a day of beautiful sunshine, fun activities and amazing company that raised a bunch of money for Dementia Adventure! A special thank you to all the staff at Heol Don Care Home for making it such a wonderful day - you really thought of everything to make sure everyone had the best day.
All together, everyone's hard work made it such a lovely day, and we hope to work with you again in future!
