Cheer on Right at Home in national care and franchising awards!

Celebrating last year’s HSBC bfa Awards, our bfa Franchisees of the Year, Kev & Amy Popat from Right at Home Solent & Southampton.

Right at Home has been nominated for a number of care and franchising awards, with both the franchise leadership and individual franchise owners recognised for their achievements this year.

Alastair Shanks, owner of RaH Guildford & Farnham, has been put forward for the Innovation Award in the 2020 Care Hero Awards, where Right at Home Solent are also in the running for a Team Award.

The Care Hero Awards, run by HomeCare Insight publication, were launched specifically to celebrate the achievements of the care heroes of the coronavirus pandemic, in replacement of this year’s Leaders In Care Awards.

Alastair’s Care Hero nomination came after he enlisted an army of local volunteers, early in the pandemic, to support people who were self-isolating in his hometown of Farnham, Surrey. The Friends of Right at Home group offered a free shopping and phone companionship service for people in need, after Alastair and his team recruited nearly 180 volunteers who were each interviewed, DBS and identity-checked and trained.

Right at Home Solent’s nomination emphasises how the business focused on its CareGivers’ well-being, when they were asked to work on the frontline amid the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic. Looking after their team’s physical, emotional and mental health helped keep service disruption to a minimum and meant staff felt safe and well-supported as they faced an extremely challenging set of circumstances.

The annual EWiF Awards are an opportunity to celebrate women right across the UK, from businesses of all ages and sizes operating in the franchising industry.

Franchisee Sam Wright opened Right at Home High Wycombe and District in July 2017 and less than two years later, it was rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission in its first full inspection. Her hard work and dedication has resulted in a nomination for EWiF Woman Franchisee of the Year.

Also nominated in these awards is Right at Home UK’s Chief Operating Officer, Lucy Campbell, in the Woman Franchisor of the Year category. Lucy – who has been with Right at Home for more than five years – champions a culture of continuous improvement which has seen Right at Home achieve its most successful 12 months to date.

Lucy’s nomination follows her inclusion in What Franchise’s highly coveted 100 Influential Women in Franchising list for 2020.

Right at Home CEO, Ken Deary, has been nominated as a bfa Community Hero, in recognition of his response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ken’s nomination, made by a Right at Home franchise owner, says: “Like the true leader he is, Ken was very involved in implementing radical changes at ground level with franchisees. Through his leadership and support, he eliminated as many obstacles as possible for franchisees, to ensure they were focussed on supporting their Clients and CareGivers through this challenging time.”

And ahead of the most prestigious awards in the franchising calendar, Ken and Lucy recently presented to the British Franchise Association after Right at Home UK was named a finalist in the Leadership & Culture category of the upcoming HSBC bfa Franchise of the Year Awards.

We will, of course, keep you posted as these awards are announced – to hear this and other updates on the Right at Home network, stay connected with us on FacebookTwitter and LinkedIn – and wish us good luck!
