An Afternoon to Remember at the Big Green Picnic
The Big Green Picnic was filled with smiles, conversation and plenty of homemade cake as Clients, their families and Carers gathered at Wessex Lodge Care Home for an afternoon of fun. Organised by Senior Carer Sally Eeles, the event created an opportunity for everyone to relax, socialise and enjoy quality time together outside of regular care visits.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the selection of homemade cupcakes baked by Wessex Lodge resident Fiza. The cakes were enjoyed by everyone attending and added a thoughtful, personal touch to the day.
Events like the Big Green Picnic play an important role in supporting wellbeing. They help reduce feelings of loneliness, encourage conversation and strengthen friendships, while giving Clients something special to look forward to. For people living with dementia, these shared experiences can boost confidence, spark happy memories and encourage meaningful interactions.

More Than a Picnic: Supporting Dementia Adventure
The Big Green Picnic formed part of Right at Home UK's ongoing charity partnership with Dementia Adventure, an organisation dedicated to helping people living with dementia enjoy the outdoors and stay connected to the people and places that matter most.
Dementia Adventure provides supported holidays, outdoor experiences and specialist dementia training, helping individuals and their loved ones continue making meaningful memories together. The partnership reflects Right at Home's shared belief that living with dementia should never prevent someone from experiencing joy, connection and new adventures.
Community events like the Big Green Picnic demonstrate how small moments can have a lasting impact. Whether it's sharing tea and cake, catching up with friends or simply spending time outdoors, these experiences help improve emotional wellbeing and strengthen relationships.
