Right at Home Solent Celebrates 10 Years of Outstanding Care and Community Impact
Published: 30/07/2025
This month marks a major milestone for Right at Home Solent, who are celebrating 10 years since their initial CQC registration. They’ve enjoyed a full decade of delivering exceptional care, growing a thriving business, and making a lasting difference in their local community.
The team, led by husband-and-wife duo Kev and Amy Popat, have become one of the most respected homecare providers on the South Coast. From the very beginning, their ambition was clear: to build a business that prioritised people and set the standard for what high-quality homecare should look like.
Since opening their doors in 2014, Right at Home Solent has grown significantly — expanding its care team, supporting more Clients, and earning widespread recognition, including the Franchisee of the Year award at the bfa HSBC Franchise Awards in 2019.
Staying True to Their Values
Reflecting on the milestone, Amy Popat, Owner and Operations Director, said:
“Ten years ago, we made the decision to open a care business because we wanted to do something that made a real difference. We couldn’t have imagined how rewarding and life-changing this journey would be — not just for our Clients, but for us and our team as well. We’re proud of what we’ve built, but we’re even more excited about what lies ahead.”
The business has continued to evolve, recently expanding into new territories and developing internal initiatives that strengthen team culture and improve care quality. Amy and Kev remain actively involved in every aspect of the business, from mentoring team members to maintaining close relationships with Clients and families.
Last year, we interviewed Kev and Amy for a franchise development case study, where they reflected on their journey with Right at Home thus far.
“When we first approached Right at Home, they asked us what our life ambitions were and we said, ‘ensuring our family financial stability, sending our kids to a good school and finding a career we were passionate about, ’ and we achieved all of those,” Amy said, reflecting on the last decade.
“We genuinely love coming to work. We speak to friends who complain about their jobs all the time, but we really enjoy what we do. We’re passionate about it and it’s become a big calling for us. I’m getting emotional thinking about this because we really do care.”
A Model for Sustainable Success
Right at Home Solent’s journey is a standout example of how values-led leadership, paired with the right franchise model, can deliver long-term success. The business has never strayed from its person-centred ethos, and has built a reputation for consistency, integrity and quality, all of which are cornerstones of the Right at Home brand.
Kate Dilworth, Associate Director – Network Development at Right at Home UK, commented:
“Amy and Kev are a brilliant example of what we look for in a franchise partner. They are passionate, community-driven, and committed to excellence. Their 10-year milestone is a fantastic reminder of what can be achieved when you combine strong values with operational rigour. They’ve grown a business that’s respected across the sector, and they continue to raise the bar for others in our network.”
An Inspiring Path for Future Franchisees
This landmark achievement for Right at Home Solent shows that with the right support, people from outside the care sector can build something truly meaningful. Amy and Kev’s journey proves that it’s possible to lead a commercially successful business while staying deeply connected to the people and communities you serve.
