FAQs
Choosing care for yourself or someone you love is a significant decision. To feel confident in your choice, you deserve clear and honest answers.
Are homecare services funded by the NHS or local authority?
Funding arrangements vary depending on individual circumstances.
In some cases, your local authority may contribute towards care costs following a financial assessment. Some people also use Direct Payments or a Personal Budget.
We are happy to guide you through your options and help you understand what may be available in your area.
Are your Carers insured and checked?
Yes. Every Carer is directly employed by Right at Home.
We follow a robust safer recruitment process, including enhanced DBS checks, verification of identity and right to work, detailed references and values-based interviews.
All Carers are fully insured while delivering care, giving you additional peace of mind.
Will my family member receive care from the same Carer?
Wherever possible, consistency is prioritised.
We carefully match Clients and Carers based on personality, preferences and care needs, with the aim of building a trusted, long-term relationship. Familiar faces allow rapport to grow naturally and help Clients feel comfortable and secure.
If care is required for extended hours or at different times throughout the week, more than one Carer may be involved. In these situations, we ensure introductions are handled sensitively and continuity remains central.
If, at any point, you would like to request a change, we will act promptly. One conversation is all it takes. Your confidence in the person supporting you matters.
Can Right at Home help with medication?
Support with medication depends on the services provided by your local office and the level of care required.
All offices can provide medication reminders. Where appropriate and locally authorised, some offices can also offer medication administration delivered by trained Carers.
We can also monitor for side effects and provide updates to family members or healthcare professionals where required.
Please contact your local office to discuss what is available in your area.
Will I have a choice about who comes into my home?
Yes. Your involvement is encouraged at every stage.
We take great care when matching you with a Carer, considering not only your care needs but also how you want your day to feel. However, your comfort comes first.
If a Carer does not feel like the right fit, we will listen and make a change quickly and respectfully.
Can I change or discontinue services?
Yes. Care needs can change, sometimes quickly.
You can adjust the frequency or type of support at any time, subject to Carer availability and the terms of your care agreement.
We do not believe in restrictive long-term contracts. Should you decide to end services, you may do so in line with your agreed notice period.
How can I verify that visits have taken place?
Carers complete detailed care records after each visit. These include the support provided and arrival and departure times.
Depending on your local office, records may be maintained digitally or within the Client’s home. This ensures transparency and keeps family members informed.
Itemised invoices are issued after care has been delivered, giving you the opportunity to review and raise any queries.
Do I need a doctor’s authorisation to begin care?
No. You can arrange care directly.
If you would like support with claiming through long-term care insurance or another funding route, we are happy to assist with the required documentation.
Where appropriate, we also work alongside GPs, community nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure care remains coordinated.
What are the costs of your services?
Each Client receives a personalised Care Plan shaped around their individual needs.
The cost of care depends on:
- The number of hours required
- The type and complexity of support provided
- Your local area
Care is typically charged on an hourly basis.
We will always provide a clear written rate sheet before services begin. Fees will not increase without appropriate notice, as outlined in your care agreement.
For more information, please speak with your local office or explore our guide to funding and planning for care.
Do I pay the Carer directly?
No. Carers are employed and paid by Right at Home.
You (or your authorised representative) will receive an invoice after care has been delivered, typically on a weekly basis. You will never be asked to make payments directly to a Carer.
