A career in care at Right at Home Alton and Bordon offers not only the opportunity to progress and develop valuable skills but job security in a choice of highly valued roles.

Care roles can vary in specialism and levels of responsibility, which means they offer the chance for real career development with a local, flexible employer.

Providing care for Right at Home is about supporting clients with quality homecare services, helping clients to maintain their independence, dignity, and enjoy life, while building lasting relationships.

Why should I choose a career in care?

CareGivers at Right at Home work flexibly around shift patterns that fit with their home life. For parents with growing families, this can be very beneficial but people at all stages of life also enjoy an alternative to the routine of a 9 to 5 job.

There is a growing need for reliable, caring people to providing high quality care to adults living in their own homes, which makes caregiving a valued and secure job, in contrast to many retail and hospitality roles.

Best of all, CareGivers at Right at Home find their jobs rewarding and fulfilling. If you enjoy being with people, caregiving could be the role for you. You might be a fun, chatty person who is great at lifting people’s spirits or you could be an excellent listener who is good at noticing when someone is not their usual self - these sorts of skills are really valuable in caring roles so if this is you, why not consider joining us as a CareGiver?

Why be a caregiver at Right at Home Alton and Bordon?

We pride ourselves on looking after our staff team. That means excellent pay (with the chance to earn more at weekends and bank holidays) and job security but also our commitment to invest in you as an employee.

We provide mentoring and excellent training to all our staff to help you progress in your role in the way that you want, to add to your collection of skills and develop your personal attributes. As you gather experience, you could have the opportunity to coach lesser experienced colleagues. We also encourage and support staff to work towards nationally recognised qualifications if they would like.

We like to make caregiving as interesting and rewarding as possible, for example by matching CareGivers with clients with similar interests or outlooks. Different clients have different levels of need so each day is as unique as our CareGivers and our clients.

What will be my responsibilities and duties?

Tasks range from offering companionship and help with everyday tasks such as preparing a meal to providing care to people with dementia or at the end of their lives. Clients might need emotional support, assistance taking medication or help with household admin, such as organising birthday cards for family members.

But the great thing about jobs in homecare is their variety and if you feel you have other skills to offer our clients, please tell us about them so we can match you to a client who could benefit.

What does a typical day as a CareGiver look like?

You may have spotted by now that no two days are the same but there are some typical patterns, depending on what shifts you work.

Morning: An early morning wake-up visit to Veronica to help her out of bed and get ready for the day - she likes to look her best. Provide a companionship visit to George mid-morning and help him take his tablets. Sometimes he likes a trip out to do his shopping.

Lunchtime: Maureen likes help in preparing her lunch and to clear up afterwards. She needs help with her cancer care medication.

Afternoon: After a snooze, Jakub benefits from a short walk or sitting out in his garden but he is less steady on his feet these days and also needs some help with light housework. Cooking has never been his strong point so he appreciates help getting a hot meal ready.

Evening: Night time is a difficult time for Len as his dementia can make him anxious. A relaxing routine helps and he needs help to get washed, use the toilet and to get to bed safely.

Over night: Margaret needs 24 hour care so Right at Home caregivers stay overnight as well as looking after her needs during the day.
