Join us for our upcoming Dementia Morning, where our Managing Director, Alastair Shanks, will share a personal talk about his experience with dementia. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in our Dementia Experience - an insightful and immersive activity that allows you to try completing everyday tasks from the perspective of someone living with dementia.

"Prior to my grandfather developing dementia around 15 years ago I had very little understanding of dementia. I didn't know the difference between Alzheimer's disease and dementia, I didn't know how it affected people and if I had met someone with the condition I wouldn't have known what to say to them.
My grandfather was moved into a care home well before he was ready for it and that whole situation has driven my interest and passion for making life better for those living with dementia. I now run a local home care business (Right at Home) with a specialism in dementia care and I am a trustee for the charity Dementia Adventure.
I also run Dementia Awareness sessions to raise the level of understanding about dementia in our local community. Dementia impacts so many of us either directly or indirectly, a little bit of knowledge can be hugely beneficial for all of us.
