Community Picnic for Dementia Adventure

More than 50 people came together at Hollycombe Steam Fair in Liphook as Right at Home Alton & Bordon welcomed Clients, Carers, families and team members for its Big Green Picnic, held in partnership with Right at Home Guildford & Farnham.

The event provided a wonderful opportunity for both offices to bring their local communities together, giving Clients the chance to socialise, enjoy the outdoors and spend quality time with loved ones. Guests tucked into a selection of sandwiches, cakes, sweet treats and refreshments while chatting, making new friendships and reconnecting with familiar faces.

Creating opportunities like this plays an important role in reducing loneliness and social isolation, particularly for older people and those living with dementia.

A Day To Remember

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting people living with dementia, Right at Home Alton & Bordon joined forces with Right at Home Guildford & Farnham to raise money for Dementia Adventure, a charity that helps people with dementia enjoy meaningful outdoor experiences and holidays.

To help support the charity, the teams organised a popular tombola packed with generous prizes donated by local supporters. Thanks to everyone who took part, the tombola raised more than £100 towards the partnership's fundraising efforts.

A memorable surprise awaited guests during the afternoon when everyone was invited aboard one of Hollycombe Steam Fair's historic steam trains. Travelling through the beautiful South Downs in the summer sunshine quickly became one of the highlights of the day and created lasting memories for everyone involved.

"I was so pleased with the turnout for our Big Green Picnic. Hollycombe Steam Fair is such a special place, so it was wonderful to see our Clients enjoying it just as much as I do. Bringing everyone together for such a fantastic cause, while raising money for Dementia Adventure, made the day even more special.”

By working together, Right at Home Alton & Bordon and Right at Home Guildford & Farnham created a day filled with friendship, laughter and meaningful moments, while raising valuable funds for Dementia Adventure. Both teams look forward to continuing their partnership and creating more opportunities for people living with dementia to stay connected with their local community.
