The Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Dennis Booth has attended the launch of Right at Home GF’s new breakthrough dementia support programme.

The launch included a presentation from dementia lead and Care Manager Adriana Mendonca and an opportunity to speak with dementia experts and find out more about the programme including its focus on person-centred care.

The research-proven approach enables people with dementia to live independently in their homes for as long as possible. Caregivers are trained to encourage a person’s abilities and to focus on minimising the symptoms of dementia.

Alastair Shanks, Managing Director of Right at Home GF says: “The number of people being diagnosed with dementia is increasing and so it is our aim to improve quality of life for our clients and their families in every respect. We have specialist dementia caregivers who create care plans tailored to the individual client. We also collaborate with the client and their family to set goals and provide support on nutrition, socialisation, wellness and awareness, all of which are known to help ease the symptoms of dementia.

“It was a delight to welcome Councillor Booth, Mrs Booth and healthcare professionals to our launch event at The Hive, Park Barn. We were grateful for the opportunity to explain how our dementia support programme is helping local people with dementia get the best possible care.”

Right at Home is an award-winning provider of home care services, including those for older adults with dementia.
