Local home care provider Right at Home Guildford and Farnham (GF) has scooped not just one but four awards at a nationwide awards ceremony.

The Right at Home Celebration Awards is an annual awards ceremony for the Right at Home network of homecare providers throughout the UK. The national awards celebrate how the thousands of caregivers, office staff and managers work tirelessly to extoll the company’s motto of ‘making a difference every day’ to their clients.

Right at Home GF won in all four categories in which it was shortlisted, fighting off competition from as far afield as Cardiff and Manchester.

“Helping our clients to enjoy life as much as they can is at the heart of everything we do,” said a jubilant Alastair Shanks, Managing Director of Right at Home GF. “As well as providing thoughtful, compassionate and professional one to one care to our clients, that means investing in our staff, striving for the highest care and business standards, developing amazing managers and being an active part of our local community. 2020 has been a challenging year for caregivers so it is fantastic to have our work recognised as the best among our peers.”

Right at Home GF won the awards for Business of the Year, the Community Impact Award and Employer of the Year and Sara Woodley was crowned Registered Manager of the Year.

In its award entries, Right at Home GF highlighted some of the work it is most proud of, including a loyal and motivated workforce, demonstrated through not only excellent staff retention rates but also by staff whose enjoyment of their work has resulted in their friends joining the company. The company prides itself on looking after its staff and supporting their personal development.

Mr Shanks is also proud of the local groups the branch has set up for older members of the local community, such as Singing for the Mind, Love to Move and the Sunflower Café. The groups support people with dementia and their carers and are open to all to attend, not just Right at Home clients.

Seeing first-hand how the COVID-19 virus has disproportionately affected older people and those with compromised health, Right at Home supported the communities it works in, most notably in Farnham where it was central to the Farnham Coronavirus Response activities. Right at Home GF provided volunteer recruitment and training, essential shopping services, and companionship telephone calls. At the same time, it has adapted its regular services during the outbreak, such as by running social activities on Zoom.

Right at Home GF provides care in people’s homes in Guildford, Farnham, Bordon, Fleet and surrounding areas. Care ranges from companionship and helping with day to day tasks such as cooking to live in 24-hour care and assisting with medication.
