Reconnecting with the World: Rosalind and Mike’s Journey
How gentle encouragement and the right support helped Rosalind rediscover the confidence to enjoy life outside the home

Live-in support helping Rosalind after a long hospital stay
After a difficult period of hospital stays and rehabilitation at home, getting back to everyday life can feel like a huge challenge. For Rosalind and Mike, even the things they once took for granted – seeing family, going out for a coffee or simply enjoying time in the community – had become much harder.
With the support of their dedicated Carers, Nicola and Lucia, Rosalind has been taking small but important steps towards feeling more confident again.
And recently, those steps led to two lovely milestones: enjoying a family barbecue and visiting Squires Garden Centre.
For many people, these might sound like ordinary outings. For Rosalind, they were anything but. They were signs that life was beginning to feel a little more normal again.

Small steps that make a big difference
Live-in Carers Nicola and Lucia have supported Rosalind and Mike with patience, encouragement and plenty of reassurance, helping Rosalind gradually feel more comfortable about getting out and about again.
The family barbecue was particularly special. It was Rosalind's first time enjoying this kind of family gathering in the year, giving her the chance to spend a relaxed, happy time surrounded by people she loves.
Not long afterwards came another exciting step – a visit to Squires Garden Centre.
Being able to leave home, enjoy a change of scenery and spend time looking around the garden centre might sound simple, but for someone rebuilding their confidence after a difficult period, it can take real courage.
Having Nicola and Lucia there meant Rosalind didn't have to face those challenges alone. Their encouragement gave her the confidence to take each step at her own pace, while knowing that support was there whenever she needed it.

Helping people get back to what they love
Rosalind and Mike's experience is a wonderful reminder that independence doesn't always mean doing everything alone. Sometimes, having the right person alongside you is what makes independence possible.
Nicola and Lucia have helped Rosalind take those first steps back into the world, offering encouragement without taking away her independence.
Most importantly, they have helped create opportunities for Rosalind and Mike to enjoy time with family, get out into the community and make new memories together.
