World-Class Dance Brings Joy to Our Clients
Doorstep Duets delighted Clients and families with an inspiring performance that celebrated community, connection and the power of dance.

Doorstep Duets Brings World-Class Dance to the Community
Now in its sixth year, Doorstep Duets was originally created in 2021 by Matthew Bourne's New Adventures and Farnham Maltings in response to social isolation. The initiative offers free professional dance performances in local communities, bringing high-quality arts experiences to places where people may not otherwise have access.
This year's performance, Bench, invited audiences to imagine the stories behind the people who sit on a park bench. Through expressive movement and storytelling, three dancers portrayed characters from different points in time whose lives unexpectedly intertwined. One particularly memorable character, inspired by a woman during the Second World War, captivated our Clients and sparked conversations long after the performance had finished.
The performance created a wonderful atmosphere, with Clients, families and team members sharing smiles, laughter and thoughtful reflections together. It was a fantastic example of how the arts can connect people of all ages and backgrounds.

More Than Just a Performance
At Right at Home Guildford & Farnham, we're always looking for meaningful ways to enrich the lives of our Clients, particularly those living with dementia. Music and dance can play an important role in supporting cognitive stimulation, encouraging movement and helping people reconnect with memories and emotions. Activities like these often inspire conversation, boost confidence and create moments of genuine happiness.
Events such as Doorstep Duets also strengthen our community by bringing Clients, loved ones and local organisations together. They offer opportunities to socialise, reduce feelings of isolation and enjoy shared experiences that everyone can be part of.
